The gallery was founded by Jane Houldsworth in Edinburgh in 1986. Handwritten invitations were sent to 100 friends and there was an impromptu party two days after opening. In the mid nineties the gallery moved to London where it is now based in a pretty courtyard in Chelsea, just off Kings Road.
Around 200 artists have been shown, ranging from established to young unknown talent. Many careers have flourished, with work now in public and private collections throughout the world. Over 100 solo exhibitions have been mounted and the gallery has always had a strong presence at art fairs in the UK as well as the US and Hong Kong.
