Alvaro Petritoli: Solo Exhibition

We are delighted to be collaborating with The Art Movement in Battersea to present an exhibition by Italian artist Alvaro Petritoli simultaneously in both galleries.

Born in Italy in 1967, Petritoli studied in Rome and Naples before moving to London in 2003 to achieve a degree in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins.

In his work, often a network of miniatures, he uses natural forms and symbolism alongside his memories and emotions to create strongly evocative images.

Never has the term 'mixed media' been a more apt description of medium used than for Petritoli. As a main medium he uses ink combined with tea, gelatin, salt, iron powder or paper pulp which allows him a fluid painting approach where he welcomes unexpected outcomes and accidents. Paper laminating, photographic processes and wax treatment are also used alongside acrylic, oil and watercolour.
